Delicious Schaerer coffee at Enter Technikwelt
One has a passion for computers, the other for analogue calculating machines: It was a stroke of luck when Felix Kunz and Peter Regenass met. Together, they created the foundation for the largest interactive museum for analogue and digital technology in Switzerland. For many years, the exhibits were on display at the Solothurn railway station, but in December 2023, the new interactive experience opened in Derendingen (Solothurn, Switzerland) on 10,000 square metres of space, where around 30,000 objects are displayed on three floors. These include consumer electronics from the last 150 years, such as radios, televisions, computers, calculating machines and games. There is also an impressive car collection. Up to 200 visitors a day take a journey through time at the Technikwelt. During the week, countless schoolchildren work on content from the comprehensive lesson plan in the museum, while numerous families and technology enthusiasts visit at the weekends.

Schaerer coffee specialities in the museum restaurant and event area
A Schaerer coffee machine was available for visitors and employees at the old location – and with Raphael Voser, who was doing his civilian service at the museum, a coffee machine professional was also on the scene. A laboratory technician at Schaerer, he knows the machines like no other and can always get the best out of them. That is why museum director Violetta Vitacca never wondered who should equip the bistro at the Technikwelt with coffee machines: Two Coffee Soul 12 self-service machines now serve visitors and staff perfectly prepared coffee specialities – and there are two so that beverages with cow’s milk and a milk alternative can be prepared at the same time. If only one machine is in operation, the alternative milk can be foamed quickly and easily thanks to the Schaerer Superstream. The intuitive user interface displays twelve beverages with the quick selection function and makes operation child’s play, even for non-professionals. The museum catering team uses a Schaerer Coffee Skye on a service cart for mobile use at events. Thanks to its flexibility, guests can enjoy perfect coffee beverages in one of the conference rooms as well as in the auditorium or event hall. For large events, the guests are spread across the entire building, meaning there is room for up to 1,000 people. “These events are an important source of income for a private museum that receives no public funding. That’s why we’re so happy there’s such a high demand. In return, we can treat our guests with delicious coffee: The response is consistently positive”, says Violetta Vitacca.

Visit by Schaerer employees
Even after his civilian service ended, Raphael Voser remained loyal to the Enter Technikwelt. While the preservation of cultural history was one of his main jobs back then, he is now mostly involved as a museum guide and passes on his in-depth knowledge of the exhibits to visitors. His colleagues had the chance to see all of this for themselves. On Saturday, 9 March 2024, a group of Schaerer employees and their families visited Enter Technikwelt in Solothurn and enjoyed the history of technology narrated by Raphael Voser himself. Of course, their favourite coffee specialities rounded out the experience.
