A diverse and fascinating travel destination
Switzerland
Picturesque lakes, breathtaking mountain landscapes, fascinating cities brimming with culture: Holidays in Switzerland are as unique as they are varied! Almost no other tourist destination has as much to offer in such a comparatively small area as our home country. However, Switzerland not only impresses with its nature and culture – the cuisine and the hotel industry also enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide due to their especially high quality. We would like to take you on a little journey on the occasion of the current holiday season and as inspiration for the upcoming autumn holidays. We’ve selected two exclusive destinations where you can enjoy Swiss savoir-vivre to the fullest. We are also pleased to introduce two of our clients – Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona on Lake Maggiore and Hotel Fairmont Le Montreux Palace on the shores of Lake Geneva. Both help make Switzerland the perfect holiday destination with their passion and special quality standards.
Ascona – the pearl on Lake Maggiore
You don’t have to go to Italy to enjoy the dolce vita! Thanks to the fresh lake air, the mild climate and its Mediterranean charm, Ascona in Ticino is a real insider tip. The colourful, palm-fringed lakeside promenade with its many bars and restaurants is one of the most beautiful walks on all of Lake Maggiore. The car-free town centre, filled with historic alleys and courtyards, has been largely preserved. The countless boutiques, delicatessens and art galleries invite you to shop, feast and stroll. From Monte Veritá, the local 321-metre high mountain, you have a wonderful view of the lake and the impressive mountain panorama. With an average temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, the Brissago Islands, which are situated about 3.5 kilometres southwest of Ascona, have by far the warmest climate in the entire country. The botanical garden on the larger island of San Pancrazi is one of the most beautiful gardens in Switzerland. Thanks to the mild climate, a wide variety of exotic plants and palms thrive there. Sports enthusiasts also get their money’s worth in Ascona: The picturesque landscape is perfect for long hikes or cycling trips, the lake beckons you to take a boat trip and the 18-hole golf course is one of the most famous in Switzerland.
Hotel Eden Roc Ascona
About 2.5 kilometres from the Ascona Golf Club you will find the five-star Hotel Eden Roc in a quiet location directly on the lake. A private beach, the extensive panoramic jetty with its own marina, 95 luxurious and colourful rooms and suites and a spacious garden make the hotel a paradise on Lake Maggiore. As part of the Tschuggen Hotel Group, the Eden Roc has also been offering its guests the all-round well-being package entitled “Moving Mountains” since 2021. It is based on five pillars for achieving perfect relaxation and an unforgettable holiday experience, which each guest can design according to their personal preferences.
Lovers of refined cuisine are also at the right place at Eden Roc, which boasts four exceptional restaurants. While the gourmet restaurant La Brezza, which has a Michelin star, serves the finest Mediterranean dishes, guests can enjoy pasta, mezze and even dim sum at the fashionable restaurant La Marina or La Casetta, located in the lake house. The classic Eden Roc serves newly interpreted French cuisine. What we really love: For many years, the hotel has been serving the finest coffee specialities from its Schaerer coffee machine.
For music lovers and night owls – Montreux on Lake Geneva
Nestled between majestic peaks, vineyards and Lake Geneva, the town in the canton of Vaud in the French part of Switzerland is truly picture-perfect. The northern part of the eastern shore of Lake Geneva is also often called the “Swiss Riviera”. And what Cannes is to the Côte d’Azur, Montreux is to Lac Léman (the French name for Lake Geneva), namely a place that combines distinctive Swiss hospitality with cosmopolitan charm. Home to many stars and starlets, Montreux is known for its lively night life and cultural events, such as the famous Montreux Jazz Festival, which takes place every year in July. In general, music plays a major role here: The casino fire of 1971, for instance, inspired the band Deep Purple to write their hit “Smoke on the Water”, and the rebuilt casino served as a retreat for Freddie Mercury when he spent some of his last years in Montreux. Since then, a bronze statue of the Queen lead singer has adorned the shores of Lake Geneva. Another highlight is the magnificent Château de Chillon. The medieval moated castle is one of the oldest in Switzerland and lends a touch of French romanticism.
Fairmont Le Montreux Palace
Many houses on the lakeside promenade date back to the Belle Epoque period, including the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, which was built in 1906. The iconic 5-star luxury hotel is the starting point from which to take in the glamorous atmosphere of Montreux. Since its opening, the hotel has been synonymous with excellent personal service. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, culture, music or gourmet cuisine, the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace has something for everyone. The 236 rooms and suites are furnished in contemporary style and offer luxury with a breathtaking view of the Alps and Lake Geneva. The spacious Fairmont Spa, indoor and outdoor pools and direct access to the lake create the perfect oasis of tranquillity for body and soul.
The cuisine at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is also characterised by the highest quality and leaves nothing to be desired. The 5 restaurants and bars, as well as the 24-hour room service, take hotel guests on a culinary journey through Switzerland and around the world. The music festival-inspired Montreux Jazz Café, for instance, combines hearty cuisine with a selection of the finest wines and spirits. Funky Claude’s Bar, with weekly live music from Thursday to Saturday evening, first-class cocktails and its dignified ambience, is a trendy meeting place and the perfect way to end the day. We are delighted that this exclusive establishment has also chosen us as its coffee machine supplier. The Fairmont Le Montreux Palace has faith in our coffee expertise and serves its guests tasty coffee specialities from Schaerer machines, including in the Palmeraie, its breakfast restaurant, or during its excellent Sunday brunch.
