Schaerer is celebrating an impressive anniversary in 2024: The first Schaerer coffee machine was put on the market exactly 100 years ago. Since then, the brand has stood for customer focus, coffee expertise and innovation. On 19 June, Schaerer partners and customers from Switzerland had a chance to take a look at the past, present and future of Schaerer AG as part of the Customer Day. A brunch at the start of the day was the perfect opportunity to get to know each other and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere with a light snack and delicious coffee specialities. The day’s schedule included presentations and workshops, a guided tour and a brief coffee training session in the newly designed SEB Professional Experience Center as well as a tour of the production facilities.
Insights and Exchange
After welcoming the guests to the SEB Professional Experience Center, Samuel Wildhaber, General Manager of Schaerer AG since February of this year, gave some exciting insights into the SEB Professional division of the French Groupe SEB in his talk. In addition to Schaerer devices, this includes professional coffee machines from WMF, Curtis and La San Marco, tabletop equipment from WMF Professional and HEPP as well as professional appliances from the Zummo and Pacojet brands. With the exception of the tabletop equipment and Zummo, the exhibits from all the brands can be viewed in the new SEB Professional Experience Center in Zuchwil. This allowed the guests to get a good impression of the strength and innovative power of SEB Professional during the guided tour later on. Their feedback and compliments underscored the fact that the redesign of the showroom with its flexible spaces, the adjoining Coffee Competence Centre and the machine exhibition is a complete success.
Coffee experience and technology up close and personal
Before the tours of the SEB Professional Experience Centre and the production facilities and all the interesting information they contained, the buffet was opened. The fine specialities were served by the Suteria confectionery based in Solothurn – also a Schaerer customer. The brunch was rounded out with delicious coffee specialities. Daniel Fischer, who joined SEB Professional in mid-February of this year and is a trainer in the “Product Training & Coffee Competence” team, prepared these beverages on request and decorated them with creative latte art. Well fortified, the guests then had the chance to learn about the machines, technologies and the Schaerer Coffee Link digital solution in various workshops. To show the visitors some of what the Schaerer Coffee Competence Centre has to offer, Daniel Fischer took them on a journey into the wide world of coffee flavours with a short sensory training session. Some of the participants were surprised to discover the subtle nuances that can be tasted in a cup of coffee with the professional support of an expert. The tour of the production facilities was another highlight of the day and rounded out the extensive inside view of the company. It was not only the production concept that allows Schaerer to produce customised solutions in small quantities as well as handle large orders from international chains that impressed the guests. The fact that up to 490 machines can be packaged in the shipping department if needed was also a source of amazement.
”It was a great pleasure for us to welcome our partners and customers to Zuchwil and to discuss different ideas with our guests in a relaxing atmosphere. We were also delighted to receive so much positive feedback about the event. This shows that we put together a program that was as informative as it was varied. We look forward to enjoying many more events together,” says Samuel Wildhaber.
