The fact that data protection and information security have the highest priority is now also confirmed by TÜV Rheinland with a "Protected Privacy IoT Product" certification. With this successful certification, Schaerer is a pioneer in this field, as Schaerer is the first manufacturer of professional coffee machines to receive this certificate.

Data protection and information security have the highest priority
The TÜV Rheinland certifies data protection and information security with a "Protected Privacy IoT Product" certification for the models Schaerer Coffee Art, Schaerer Coffee Prime, Schaerer Coffee Soul and Schaerer Premium Coffee Corner.
The successful certification was preceded by about one year of work. After all the necessary documents had been provided and checked by TÜV Rheinland, a comprehensive inspection of the plant in Zuchwil was due. "Throughout the entire IT development and processing, the focus was particularly on compliance with information security and data protection regulations. Finally, the machines had to withstand a so-called penetration test in which IT specialists attempted to compromise the devices via their telemetry interfaces," explains Christoph Jäggi, team leader Software Operations at Schaerer. All tested models survived these attacks without any problems. The applied security measures, therefore, meet the highest standards.
Through the successful certification as a "Protected Privacy IoT Product", Schaerer has assumed the role of a pioneer among the manufacturers of professional coffee machines. The four certified models are among the first coffee machines whose high data protection standards have been confirmed with the seal of approval of TÜV Rheinland. For the responsible team around Nils Pimpl, Specialist Information Security at the WMF Group GmbH, which had accompanied and implemented the certification for WMF and Schaerer coffee machines, this means that they have taken the right way and done an excellent job in the past years. The close coordination between Nils Pimpl and the Schaerer employee Sebastian Walk, who as Global Digital Marketing Manager has various points of contact with the topics data protection and Internet of Things (IoT), was advantageous for the success. Information security was taken very seriously from the very beginning, which is why all generated and used data is always encrypted and processed according to current security standards.
The decision to have this high-security level certified by TÜV Rheinland also takes into account the public interest in data protection.
